COVID-19 and Financial Aid: What You Need To Know

Financial Aid Appeals

Families directly impacted by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, are encouraged to complete the Special Circumstance Appeal Form (new students [2020-21], returning students [2020-21], new students [2021-22]). We may be able to help with additional expenses incurred due to COVID-19, whether that be extra medical expenses, extra childcare costs, job loss, salary reductions, or additional computer equipment to take courses on-line. Please read the form carefully and provide documentation that supports the financial hardships you have incurred.

Virtual Visit Opportunities

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Bristol and Providence Financial Aid Offices will not be scheduling in-person appointments until cautionary measures are no longer required. We know that applying for financial aid can be a confusing and lengthy process. Families and students do not have to go through the process of learning the financial aid system themselves. We are still here for YOU and here to help!

Although all in-person services are suspended, scheduling a financial aid counseling session over the phone or through video communications is the best alternative to in-person visits. We thank you for your patience and understanding. Our goal is to continue to provide you with the best quality service even during these exceptional circumstances.

Financial Aid Operations

At the current time, safety protocols are in place for our campus and for hosting campus visitors. With everyone's safety in mind, we are urging and imploring our RWU employees, RWU students, and our visitors NOT to come to campus if they are sick or experiencing any symptoms of illness.

The Financial Aid staff remain dedicated to helping you navigate the financial aid process. We are responding to emails and our main phone line (401-254-3100) has been routed to email. Incoming faxes will now be sent directly to our email. Any requested documents should be scanned and emailed to, faxed to 401-254-3356, or uploaded through the Financial Aid Portal. Any documents sent via US postal mail may be delayed in processing.

Fifth-Year Funding

RWU will preserve an additional year of eligibility for senior students enrolled in a minimum 12 credits in each term and who were unable to complete graduation requirements due to circumstances related to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Such students will be eligible for a RWU Grant equal to the amount previously awarded in their institutional aid (merit scholarship and/or grant) for a maximum of one year (fall 2020 & spring 2021).
