Social Media Intern/Student Assistant

Job Description

Health services is looking for an intern with strong knowledge and experience in the area of social media and digital marketing to help expand health services outreach through social media and marketing efforts. The intern hired for this position will be responsible for redesigning Health Services website, launching and maintaining social media platforms, and assisting with conceptualizing and developing a strategic marketing plan for advertising and promoting health and wellness activities to the campus community.

This internship will allow a student interested in/studying marketing, communications, or public relations to apply knowledge and build upon skills learned in the classroom, while gaining valuable, real life work experience. This position will expose the student to executing digital marketing and communications strategies, while gaining a deep understanding of the healthcare industry.

Year 1:
Responsibility/Function

  • Assist with redesigning Health Services website and optimizing web content.
  • Participate in marketing campaigns for health promotion and wellness education activities, including advertising and developing brochures and other informational materials. (i.e. flu shot clinic, HIV/STI screening clinic, tobacco cessation counseling)
  • Develop and implement a social media strategy for Health Services using key social media channels including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram to communicate with current and prospective students.
  • Track key social media analytics on a monthly basis to assess trends and activity and provide a report to the Director of Health Services.

Year 2:
Responsibility/Function

  • Continue to develop and build upon Year I accomplishments to increase our social media presence and gain visibility for health promotion and disease prevention activities throughout campus.
  • Employ innovative tactics to grow the audiences of Health Services social media accounts. Research timely health topics and stories relevant to our students.
  • Assist with creating videos and photos of Health Services activities for use on our website and social media channels to increase student awareness.
  • Keep up to date and informed on new social media trends and adapt Health Services social media channels accordingly. Assist with creating engaging blogs and social media content.
  • Continue to track key social media analytics on a monthly basis to assess trends and activity and provide a report to the Director of Health Services

Year 3:
Responsibility/Function

  • Continue to develop and build upon Year 1 & Year 2 accomplishments to advance our social media presence and optimize health promotion outreach efforts.
  • Conduct training for health services staff on digital communications skills to help us to maintain/sustain social media accounts, web content development, and search engine optimization.
