This one-day Rhode Island specific seminar has been designed for new Police Department Prosecution Officers and Supervisory Officers who perform similar duties within their respective agency. Participants will receive instruction related to the District Court criminal complaint charging process, police station and court house arraignment procedures including issues of setting bail as well as defendant bail and probation violations, responding to defense counsel Discovery requests, pre-trial processes including recommendations for dispositions, District Court trial issues, as well as an introduction to juvenile prosecution. The program presented by Malena Lopez Mora, Esquire, Special Assistant Attorney General, RI Office of the Attorney General, and Captain John Malloy (ret. West Warwick, RI Police Department), Esquire, RI Office of the Attorney General, will provide practical advice for police officials who may be newly assigned and will serve as a refresher for those officers with previous experience.
