How To Become An Authorized Driver

Authorized drivers are sometimes needed to drive for course-engaged projects when visiting a community partner for a site visit.

  • Students must have a current driver's license and be at least 20 years old.
  • Online training must be completed to drive a 7-passenger van.  To drive a vehicle larger than the 7-passenger van, you must also schedule and complete a road test through public safety.
  • Please plan accordingly as this process can take a few weeks to process and approve.

All info pertaining to the driver authorization and RWU motor vehicle policy can be found here

Students who receive a federal work-study award may earn their awards in the community at non-profit agencies. Some of the agencies where our students have worked in the past include the Bristol Animal Shelter, Audubon Society of RI, Habitat for Humanity, Providence Police Department, Bristol/Warren School District, Coggeshall Farm Museum, Linden Place Museum and Blithewold Gardens and Arboretum

Voting laws and procedures vary from state to state.  Navigating these can be difficult for anyone, but attending college in a different town or state from your home can make things more complicated.  We have compiled resources that we believe will make your participation easier.

Give Pulse is the online hub for community engagement at RWU.  Give Pulse connects faculty, staff and students with the non-profit and community based agencies seeking partners to solve today's most challenging community issues.

Give Pulse lists long and short term opportunities looking for volunteers and curricular service-learning activities. Give Pulse is also the home of the Feinstein Service Learning Graduation Requirement (FSL).  It is here where all students submit their proposals to start the process.

You can stay close to campus or search globally for community engagement opportunities.
