Environmental Health & Safety
Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) develops and implements programs aimed at protecting the safety and well-being of the campus community. EHS helps ensure compliance with local, state and federal statutes, as well as regulations pertaining to occupational health, safety and environmental protection.

The RWU Facilities Work Order system has a "Health/Safety" option you can select to submit non-emergency EHS requests, such as hazardous waste pickup or supplies requests.

The EHS Handbook is a PDF booklet of commonly referenced EHS information, such as:
- Building safety system information in table format (fire alarm and suppression, emergency power, etc.)
- Utility, safety system, and emergency response information in map format (fire hydrants, power feeds, spill supplies, etc.)
- Quick guides for information such as understanding hazard labels, waste disposal, and emergency contact information
Anonymous Safety Suggestion Form
Submit an Anonymous Safety Suggestion or Concern
This form is for reporting safety suggestions or concerns anonymously
This form is not for:
- Reporting emergencies or other urgent, timely safety issues (call RWU Public Safety at 401-254-3333)
- Reporting routine maintenance requests (use the RWU Work Order system or call RWU Facilities Management at 401-254-3136 during business hours)
- Requesting EHS assistance for routine needs (see the "Submit Health/Safety Work Order" process referenced above)
Visiting Animals on Campus Request FormSubmit a Visiting Animals on Campus Request Form
This form is for: requesting approval for any classroom or social events that involve bringing an animal to campus (e.g., wildlife demonstration, petting zoo, etc.)
- Please complete the mandatory online form (linked above) to receive EHS approval prior to your event
- All visiting animals must go through the approval process prior to coming to campus
- Please allow at least 30 days for approval
This form is not for requesting approval for:
- Any animal use that is governed by the RWU IACUC(Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee):
- research and related teaching activities involving the use of vertebrate animals, conducted under the auspices of a school, department, or other unit within the University
- Emotional Support Animal requests for residential students (please connect with Student Accessibilty Services)
- Pets on Campus requests for employees (please see the section below)
Employee Pets on Campus Request Form
Submit a Pets on Campus Request Form
This form is for: employees requesting approval to bring their pet dog to campus (in permitted locations, and in accordance with the "Pets on Campus" Policy and program requirements.
BEFORE YOU BEGIN: please have the following documentation available in PDF form, with clearly legible information, and ready for upload (please note that .HEIC files are not compatible with the form reader and will not work) :
- Copy of your current dog license / tags for your town of residence
- Copy of your dog's complete vaccination record
- Evidence demonstrating that your dog is covered under your homeowner/renter insurance
- must cover injury or damage caused by the dog and have no breed exclusions
- Completed and signed copy of the Pets on Campus Release and Waiver of Liability Form (PDF)

Town of Bristol Fire and EMS Detail Form
Submit a Fire and EMS detail Request Form for the Town of Bristol
This form is for: requesting a Town of Bristol Fire or EMS Detail for your event if they are required due to the number of participants or the nature of the event.

- The RWU EHS Fire Safety page has additional information on event safety procedures and requirements, including: requesting fire and EMS details, tent permits, event capacities, crowd managers, and other information
