Katelyn Crinieri- M.S. Real Estate, 2026

What made you choose to study at RWU over other schools?
I attended RWU for part of my undergrad and really enjoyed my time here. When I was looking for a grad program I was looking for something in the real estate field that I could do online so I was thrilled when RWU started their Masters in Real Estate program.
Your favorite things to do around campus (if applicable):
I completed my master's mostly online from New York with a few in-person events on campus, although I did spend some time here during part of my undergrad. I've always loved just walking around campus and taking in the views of the bay. It's truly a uniquely beautiful campus.
How did the RWU graduate admissions team help with your transition into grad life?
The team always felt approachable and very responsive! Being a primarily online and long-distance student can be tricky sometimes when you just want to walk into the office to figure something out but everyone communicated well through emails and phone calls to get through admissions and the whole experience.
What stood out about your academic or classroom experience at RWU?
The professors in the real estate program were all incredible. Everyone had extensive real-world experience and diverse backgrounds. Every professor made time for their students and were always approachable. The classes were small which really helped maintain that connection with the professors and fellow classmates as well.
Did you complete an internship, practicum, or other field experience as part of your graduate program? Please describe:
I came into the program already employed as a Project Manager for a General Contractor/Developer in New York. My company was fully engaged in helping me get through the program and would give me new tasks relative to the classes I was taking that semester. Similarly my work experience often played a big role in classroom conversation. My work and academic life have truly worked hand-in-hand over the past two years and I was fortunate to have support from both ends.
How as your graduate degree or certificate prepared you for success?
I have been with the same company for the past ten years working in their construction division but was looking to make the jump to the development side. While I could have had the opportunity to learn a new role on the job, I wanted to be able to come to the table already prepared with the knowledge and terminology to hit the ground running.
What advice would you give students planning to go to graduate school?
Like many things in life, it's okay to go at your own pace. The workload of each class varied but I was able to complete my masters part-time while still maintaining a demanding full time job and parenting a toddler. Be realistic with yourself and find your own manageable pace, but when there's a will, there's a way.
