Requesting & Borrowing Materials

What is my library card and how do I activate it?

For students, faculty and staff your library card is your RWU ID. The library barcode is found on the back of your ID.

If not already activated, faculty, students, and staff can activate their card online by completing the online form.

Alumni and Bristol residents can come to the library's Information Desk to request a special borrower's card.

Can I renew books that I have checked out?

Renewals may be done in person or by telephone or online through View Your Library Record. Please have your library barcode ready when you are renewing. Items checked out from other HELIN Libraries are subject to their library loan and renewal policies. If a book is overdue or you received a bill, you will be required to bring the book in before it can be renewed.

Overdue Fines & Lost Items

Patrons are responsible for returning library materials on time and in good condition. Notices for overdue materials are sent as a courtesy and have no bearing on outstanding charges.

Patrons who do not return books from other HELIN Libraries are subject to that library's overdue fines and replacement fees. Each library in HELIN reserves the right to charge fines and suspend borrowing privileges if their library material is not returned promptly.

Patrons who have RWU material twenty-eight days past the due date will be billed a $60.00 replacement charge. This charge will be waived if the book is returned in usable condition within a year. Students may have their registration, grades, and/or transcripts held until the charges are resolved. It is advisable to keep receipts for all payments.
