Graduate Student Scholarships

RWU offers a variety of scholarship opportunities for graduate program applicants.

Graduate Scholarships

Graduate scholarships vary in value and are awarded to eligible students across all programs. Applicants are automatically considered for scholarships at the time of application, based on academic achievement, employment, or eligibility for RWU student and alumni scholarships. No additional scholarship application is required. Award details will be included in the official decision letter. Applicants who wish to have their scholarship decisions reviewed may contact our office to initiate the scholarship appeal process.

Scholarships for External Applicants

Professional Scholarships

First responders (police/fire/EMS), active duty U.S. service members, or veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces, qualify for a 20% tuition discount on graduate programs.

All applicants to RWU who indicate eligible employment on their application will automatically be considered for this scholarship. No separate scholarship application is required. Award details will be included in the official decision letter; please contact our office with any questions regarding eligibility.

The following programs are excluded from this scholarship: FMHC and Architecture.

State office employees, current K-12 teachers, and non-profit organization employees qualify for a 15% tuition discount on graduate programs.

Graduate Program Scholarships

Academic Scholarships

Academic Scholarships are awarded based on a holistic review of each applicant at the time of application. No additional scholarship application is required. Award details will be included in the official decision letter.

Endowed Scholarships

The M. Architecture program awards endowed scholarships through the Cummings School of Architecture.  These scholarships are awarded during the Spring to both internal and external applicants.  For additional details, please review our Endowed Scholarship page or reach out to our graduate admission office.

Career Investment Program

The graduate programs in Architecture and Preservation Practices offers guaranteed paid graduate assistantship and internship opportunities to all students admitted to the Master of Architecture (M.Arch) and Preservation Practices (M.S.) degree programs. Each full-time student receives up to $4,000 per year as part of the Career Investment Program, which provides the student with 200 hours of paid work in an internship setting (i.e., with an architecture firm) or working with a faculty member on project-based research.  The assistantship will be prorated for students who take part-time coursework (six credits per semester) or full time students that start/end a program with a half-year (one semester) schedule.

RWU Affiliated Student Scholarships

Undergraduate to Graduate Continuing Student Scholarship is a 25% tuition discount on all graduate programs. 

Roger Williams University offers a 25% discount on graduate tuition for RWU undergraduate students who enroll in an eligible graduate program within one year of graduating from an RWU undergraduate program. 

Participation in a 4+1 program is not required to qualify for the discount.
