Graduate Assistantships & Scholarships
RWU offers a variety of academic and administrative assistantship and scholarship opportunities for graduate students.
Academic Assistantships & Scholarships
All academic assistantships and scholarships are merit-based and are offered based solely on application materials; no additional documents or applications are required in order to be considered. The amounts for these awards vary by program. Unless listed here, all other graduate programs do not currently offer assistantships or scholarships, though program affordability is reflected in final tuition pricing.
Some offices on campus provide administrative assistantships as part-time job opportunities. Administrative graduate assistantships generally offer an application process and are posted on the Graduate Student Employment page.
The graduate program in Architecture offers guaranteed paid graduate assistantship and internship opportunities to all students admitted to the Master of Architecture (M.Arch) degree program. Each full-time student receives $4,000 per year as part of the Career Investment Program, which provides the student with 200 hours of paid work in an internship setting (i.e. with an architecture firm) or working with a faculty member on project-based research.
For students possessing a 3.0 cumulative GPA or above upon admission to the program, merit-based scholarships in varying amounts are awarded in addition to the paid assistantship or internship. Students will be notified at the time of acceptance if they have been awarded a merit scholarship and a separate scholarship application is not required.
The Business Administration (MBA) program offers limited scholarships to competitive candidates during the admission process. If you receive an award, you will be notified shortly after admission to the program and no additional scholarship application is necessary. One graduate assistantship, offering a paid work opportunity with the faculty, is also awarded to an incoming student in each cohort.
Each year, the graduate program in Criminal Justice awards a graduate assistantship to a top candidate in the entering class. The award includes a $3,000 annual research assistantship and a scholarship. The award is renewable for students pursuing full-time study for up to two years.
Students pursuing the 4+1 program have additional scholarship opportunities. Please contact the Office of Graduate Admission for more information.
Students pursuing the M.A. in Forensic Mental Health Counseling are eligible to be considered for merit-based scholarships. Students interested in being considered for scholarships must submit a completed application to the Forensic Mental Health Counseling program by February 1st prior to the intended fall term of enrollment. Students will be notified at the time of acceptance if a scholarship has been awarded. No additional scholarship application is required for consideration.
In addition to the scholarship opportunities provided, applicants to the Forensic Mental Health Counseling program may be considered for need-based grants as well as travel grants for students who choose to visit RWU prior to enrollment. Please contact the Office of Graduate Admission for more information.
The graduate program in Preservation Practices offers guaranteed paid graduate assistantship and internship opportunities to all students admitted to the M.S. in Preservation Practices degree program. Each full-time student receives $4,000 per year as part of the Career Investment Program, which provides the student with 200 hours of paid work in an internship setting (i.e. with an architecture firm or preservation organization) or working with a faculty member on project-based research. The assistantship will be prorated at 50% for students who take part-time coursework (six credits per semester).
Scholarship opportunities are also available to competitive applicants to the Preservation Practices program.
