High School Summer Academy in Architecture

Rising high school Juniors and Seniors earn three college credits through a variety of Architecture studio, seminar, field work and extracurricular activities. Students understand Architecture as a possible area of college study, and as a career.

Marine Biology Camp

Our Marine Biology Camp is specifically for high school-aged students, and is a one-week introduction to coastal ecosystems. In addition to our state-of-the-art facilities, campers immerse themselves in the dynamic, thriving marine environments of the Southern New England coast. Campers will learn about coastal ecosystems through exploration of food webs, productivity of the sea, plants and animals in the coastal zone as well as current events in the field of marine biology and much more.

Summer Sailing Institute

Rhode Island is celebrated for its seaside attractions and robust sailing. The Summer Sailing Institute is designed for high-performance sailors (ages 16-18) who are interested in perfecting their racing technique under the instruction of Olympic-level sailors Emma and Carmen Cowles. This two-week overnight program features weekly racing clinics and weekend excursions to local areas of interest.

RWU School of Law Social Justice Camp

This day-program is designed for students in grades 6-9 who are interested in learning more about the importance of law in daily life. Your child will learn from practicing attorneys, members of the Rhode Island judiciary, and community leaders.

Food Science Camp

There’s a lot of science that goes into making a five star dinner.  From the health of the soil, to molecular manipulation for the perfect mouthfeel, understanding how a gastronomic masterpiece is created requires physics, chemistry, and biology mixing in perfect balance.  This overnight camp will give students in grades 9-11 hands-on experience with the equipment and techniques scientists use to understand why some foods are so delicious.

Elias Christo is getting the most out of the architecture program at RWU. Once a high school participant in the Summer Academy, he is now in his final year of the 4+2 program, which will allow him to graduate with a bachelor science and master of architecture in just six years.

SPJ Northeast High School Journalism Institute

This summer, for the second time, RWU will host SPJ’s Northeast High School Journalism Institute, the first of many workshops nationwide sponsored by the Society of Professional Journalists. Students will work in teams on news stories, photos, video and audio related to the area's environment, economy and infrastructure.
