High School Summer Academy

The intensive four-week Summer Academy offers a variety of studio, seminar and field experiences, extracurricular activities and field trips to high school students who have successfully completed their sophomore or junior year of study. It allows students to understand architecture as a possible area of college study, and as a career.

2018 Summer Academy Dates

July 9 - August 4, 2018 / Reserve your spot by submitting your application soon!

The Academy is offered exclusively to high school students who have successfully completed their sophomore or junior year of study. The program offers a 3 college-credit curriculum: ARCH 100 "Exploring Architecture" for US residents only.

Participants gain a broader view of the field while developing skills and portfolio materials to add to their applications to professional school. Workshops, lectures, demonstrations and off-campus experiences complement daily design studios.

The 2018 Summer Academy will be offered from July 9 - August 4, 2018.

Summer Academy students study in the School’s award-winning facilities alongside undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in SAAHP’s summer programs. Interactions among the Summer Academy programs through extracurricular events, lectures and field trips give the participants in both programs a better understanding of the interactive possibilities within the School of Architecture, Art and Historic Preservation. Students are also advised on the college admissions process and portfolio development in preparation for college applications. Supervised dormitory life, with student activities programming on evenings and weekends, is included in the program. In addition, students who are US residents are enrolled in ARCH 100: Exploring Architecture and receive 3 college credits.
