SPLO Design Coordinator

Job Description

The SPLO Design Coordinator position will assist the Student Life Division in content creation, web site development and research assistance for various departments across campus. Through the position, FIT students have the opportunity to  build their graphic design portfolio while creating marketing strategies to promote departments and sending visual messaging to the student body.   

The FIT student will work alongside the Assistant Dean of Students to help create advertising for large scale events including but not limited to: Homecoming and Family Weekend, New Student Orientation, and Admissions Events, etc. FIT students will also be tasked with creating logos and other promotions material (stickers, merch, banners) for department needs. Applicants should have a strong understanding working with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects). 

Year 1
Responsibility/Function

The SPLO Design Coordinator will assist with Design and Marketing Needs; the responsibilities include:

  • Attend training to learn about department, communications and customer services
  • Develops, designs, and distributes digital and print promotional materials for major events, including: posters, banners, and social media images
  • Learn the Magic Info system and post for department needs
  • Learn how to update and edit specific pages within Student Programs.
  • Assist in research and benchmarking various programs to assist in decision making for staff
  • Work with student team of FIT Students and Student Orientation Coordinators to create Orientation newsletters, guides, training materials and promo info
  • Operates within deadlines established for various projects by following an established production schedule
  • Meet weekly with supervisor to discuss projects and content

Year 2
Responsibility/Function

  • Continue with Year 1 Responsibilities
  • Work with Student Life staff to create Student Life staff training manuals
  • Create content for Student Life Social Media Channels
  • Assist in Coordination of Orientation Advisor recruitment
  • Assist in creating assessment tools/surveys for the student body
  • Create Marketing Campaign for SPLO Curriculum and Division Mission Statements

Year 3
Responsibility/Function

  • Continue with Years 1 and 2 responsibilities
  • Create Student Life FIT Program Transition Materials
  • Assist in Interviewing for Future FIT Interns
  • Collaborating with various Student Life departments to develop strategies that build awareness, engagement, and action.
  • Assist in scheduling student to speak on behalf of Student Life at Admissions Recruitment Events
  • Coordinate plans for FIT online library for future design projects 
  • Create Infographics for Department needs at Open House and Accepted Student Days

This FIT position will help the student with leadership, communication and technical design/marketing skills for Student Programs major events, student needs and working as part of a team. This FIT position will learn more about the Student Programs department and provide key feedback in regards to marketing various programs and services to the student body.  The FIT student will have the opportunity to present to their peers, work with design in both social media, video and print. This FIT intern will allow the student to work in a fast-past environment with multiple prioritizes, and; the student will see what they are able to create around our campus. This FIT intern will be able to utilize design skills learned in the classroom and utilize in projects for Student Life division. This FIT position will be able to do research, learn how to assess programs, and provide the results to various members of the Student life Division.
