RWU Law Dean Gregory Bowman Named RIAJ Citizen of the Year
The Rhode Island Association for Justice recognized Bowman for his commitment to service, civic engagement and the public good.
CRANSTON, R.I. — Roger Williams University School of Law Dean and Professor of Law Gregory W. Bowman was honored as the 2026 Citizen of the Year by the Rhode Island Association for Justice (RIAJ) on Thursday, Sept. 24.
Bowman received the RIAJ Citizenship Award during the organization’s 39th Annual Awards Reception at Circe Prime in Cranston. The award recognizes his commitment to service, civic engagement and the public good.
“I’m deeply honored to receive the Rhode Island Association of Justice’s Citizenship Award and grateful to be part of a legal community that recognizes the importance of service, civic engagement and a commitment to the public good,” Bowman said.
Bowman emphasized that those values are central to the mission of RWU Law and its work preparing students to serve their communities.
“Citizenship is about more than the rights and responsibilities we hold as individuals — it is about how we contribute to the communities around us,” he said. “Those values are central to the mission of Roger Williams University School of Law and to the work we do every day to prepare our students to serve their communities and strengthen our democracy.”
The RIAJ represents trial lawyers throughout Rhode Island and advocates for the civil justice system and the rights of individuals.
