Aquatics Operations Assistant

Job Description

The Aquatics Operations Assistant supports the daily operation of the Roger Williams University Aquatics Center by helping maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all facility users. This position also assists with the setup, operation, and management of competitive swim meets and special aquatic events.

Essential Responsibilities:

Facility Operations

  • Assist with maintaining a safe and clean aquatic facility, including pool deck, locker rooms, and surrounding areas.
  • Enforce facility policies and safety procedures.
  • Conduct swim tests as required.
  • Inspect and report issues with pool, rescue, and facility equipment.
  • Assist with setup and breakdown for recreational swimming, practices, camps, and special events.
  • Maintain records and complete assigned operational tasks.

Swim Meet & Event Operations

  • Assist with the setup, operation, and breakdown of swim meets and aquatic events.
  • Operate and troubleshoot electronic timing equipment, scoreboards, and meet management systems.
  • Assist with athlete, coach, official, and spectator logistics.
  • Support timing system operation, results processing, and meet administration.
  • Help ensure events are conducted in a professional and efficient manner.

Customer Service

  • Provide outstanding customer service to students, members, guests, coaches, and participants.
  • Develop positive relationships with facility users and staff.
  • Represent the Aquatics Department in a professional manner.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience in aquatics, competitive swimming, or event operations preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Google Workspace and Microsoft Office preferred.

Preferred Majors: Sports Management, Recreation, Exercise Science, Business, Event Management, Education, or related fields.
