Mesa Presents on “Performance2” at Indiana University

Olga Mesa with her Auxetic Ceiling

Olga Mesa, Associate Professor and Architecture Co-Director, presented “Performance2” in a lecture at Indiana University in Columbus, Indiana, on April 23, 2026.  Mesa presented her approach toward architectural design developed with Associate Professor Nathan Fash, her partner in the non-profit Nuvola Studio, which pairs the social, cultural, and communicative forms of performance with quantifiable characteristics such as heat transfer, structural integrity, and energy use. Projects at various scales and applications that take advantage of material properties and geometric principles were presented to illustrate this perspective. The presentation will draw from the work of her non-profit, research, teaching, and the beginnings of her creative process.
