Join the Squad: Content Creation & Community Management

Are you a storyteller, a video editor, or a natural at building digital communities? The School of Engineering, Computing and Construction Management (SECCM) is looking for creative, energetic, and reliable students to join our Social Media Team. This is a general work-study position where you will work under the mentorship of SECCM staff and peer Student Managers to help SECCM stand out online. 

Roles & Responsibilities

1. Content Creators & Video Editors

  • Visual Storytelling: Develop engaging and high-quality images, graphics, and text for Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook.
  • Video Production: Use tools like CapCut and Adobe Spark to film and edit short-form reels, TikTok-style clips, and event highlights.
  • Brand Consistency: Learn to apply SECCM branding, ensuring all content uses consistent fonts, colors, and professional styles.
  • Event Coverage: Attend SECCM guest speaker events, club activities, and student competitions to capture "behind-the-scenes" footage. 

2. Community Managers

  • Audience Engagement: Interact with followers by responding to comments and messages in a timely, professional manner.
  • Relationship Building: Proactively build relationships with the audience to foster a sense of community within the school.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Social Media Strategic Analyst to understand what content the community loves most.
  • Platform Management: Assist in scheduling and preparing posts to ensure a consistent presence across all SECCM outlets.

  • Career Preparation: Develop transferable "soft skills" in communication, interpersonal relations, and organizational management.
  • Mentorship: Receive direct guidance and training from upperclassman Student Managers. 

Qualifications

  • Work-Study Eligible: You must have a work-study award to apply.
  • Creative Eye: A passion for photography, video editing, or graphic design.
  • Strong Communicator: Ability to represent SECCM professionally in both writing and digital interaction.
  • Reliable and Dependable: Able to work a minimum of 5 hours per week (and up to 20 hours) during the academic year. This position location is primarily the SECCM Deans office and various locations on campus and hybrid as is needed for events, etc. Your team members are depending on you, be there on time and ready to get creative and meet all deadlines.
