The Cummings School’s first Spring 2024 exhibition, “Confronting Carbon Form” hosted January 29-March 8 in the CSA Gallery, features collaboration by Assistant Professor Ryan Ludwig along with an extensive list of collaborators including curators Stanley Cho, Elisa Iturbe, and Alican Taylan. The exhibition addresses how the adoption of fossil-fuel transformed the way people think about space. The work identifies specific urban archetypes, spatial concepts and historical narratives that are characteristic of the carbon age. The exhibition was developed with support from the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts, and by Independent Projects, in partnership with the New York State Council on the Arts, and the Architectural League of New York.

Ludwig is also the author of the recent book, Beyond Sustainable: Architecture’s Evolving Environments of Habitation (London, Routledge, 2021)
