Gender and Sexuality Studies at RWU bridges subjects like literature, psychology, justice and politics to explore gender and sexuality issues in society. By investigating topics such as race, class, ethnicity and religion in sexual identity and the representation of gender in media, you’ll learn how to think and respond critically to social justice issues and civil discourse -- an essential skill for any career in our diverse global community.

Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the Gender and Sexuality Studies Program, students will be able to:
- Analyze gender and sexuality as interdisciplinary fields of study, drawing on perspectives from the humanities, social sciences, and cultural studies.
- Examine how gender and sexuality intersect with systems of power and identity, including race, class, nationality, ability, and other social categories.
- Critically evaluate cultural, historical, political, and social narratives about gender and sexuality in the U.S. and transnational contexts.
- Apply feminist, queer, and intersectional frameworks to study and understand social movements, activism, and contemporary struggles for justice and equality.
- Translate knowledge into action beyond the classroom through advocacy, collaboration, and community engagement that promote equity, inclusion, and social change.
