AIAS grant to RWU Freedom By Design

The American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) national office has awarded a $3000 Freedom by Design materials grant to RWU’s AIAS student chapter, to assist our students’ design and construction of an outdoor classroom and Children’s Arboretum at the Pell Elementary School in Newport, RI. This support is part of an AIAS Board of Directors initiative to support Freedom By Design initiatives focused on working with elementary schools, which this year provides support to RWU, and the universities of Hawaii, Minnesota, North Carolina-Charlotte, and Texas-Arlington. This AIAS support supplements the $5000 gift to the RWU project from New England Home Magazine received in November 2016.  Construction will be completed in May 2017.
