Position Description

The Office of International Student & Scholar Services Graduate Assistant is a 9-month, 8-10 hour/week position that promotes developmental and professional learning while pursuing a graduate degree. Serving as a member of the OISSS, the Graduate Assistant will support the mission of the office in a variety of ways.

Essential Functions

  • Assist with logistics for all programs to include outreach, advising, marketing, and the planning of orientations and cultural events.
  • Update & maintain documents and forms to make more student friendly.
  • Provide administrative support through the management of the OISSS general email inquiries.
  • Compile and assess data, upon request, using discretion with potentially sensitive information.
  • Maintain the OISSS databases to ensure information is accurate and up to date.
  • Depending on availability and experience, the Intern may be asked to perform other duties related to OISSS’s work (e.g., social media management, statistical analysis, video production, etc.).

Expectations

  • Graduate Assistant must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0, required for satisfactory academic progress in RWU graduate programs.
  • Adhere to strict confidentiality policies (and sign confidentiality agreement) when working with students and accessing student records.
  • Be in good academic and judicial standing with the University.

  • Approximately 8-10 hours/week paid at $15/hour up to $3,000 per academic year.

Placement Term

The position will be effective for the 2023-2024 academic year with the option to be considered for further placement for students pursuing a two-year plan of study.
