What I was doing before my graduate program at RWU:

Before my graduate program here at RWU, I was getting my B.A. in Psychology with a double minor in Criminal Justice and Educational Studies here at RWU. Once I completed my four years of undergrad, I applied to the M.A. in Forensic & Legal Psychology program and was accepted!

My future plans:

My future plans are to hopefully go and get my Ph.D. If that plan does not work out, I am hoping to find an internship or job that is in the career field that I would like to pursue. Some of the career options that I am looking at are becoming a forensic psychologist with a specialization in being an expert witness, jury consultant, or trial consultant. I am still trying to figure out what exactly I want to do, but each semester and class helps me better understand what I might want to do in my future!

My favorite parts of my student experience at RWU:

Being at RWU for now my sixth year, there are so many different parts of the student experience that I love. One of my favorite parts, if I had to choose, would be how much involvement we have on campus. There are so many different ways for graduate students to be involved, but also being able to get to know each other and make friends. In addition, there are many events that are put on for the graduate students such as going to Boston Red Sox games, happy hours at Aidan’s Pub, Newport Sunset Cruises, and lots more! The involvement and interactions within the community are probably my favorite parts of the student experience here at RWU.

Best advice for students planning to go to graduate school:

One of the best pieces of advice that I can give for students planning to go to graduate school is to make sure that the place that you are applying to is a great fit for you. To continue on, make sure that you really read and look at the program in depth and understand what it is all about before deciding to apply. Once you look at the program and location, hopefully you can feel in your gut that it could be like your second home.

Favorite things to do in the area:

One of my favorite things to do in the area is going to all the local food places. Some of my favorite food spots in Bristol are Bristol Bagel Works, Portside Tavern, and The Wave. Another favorite thing that I like to do in the area is sit and watch the sunset at Colt State Park. I love being able to get my work done right near the water, relax, and watch the sunset. It is always so beautiful and calm there (my family always wants to go there when they come to visit me)!
