Mike Gallagher, Associate Director of Recreational Services and Facilities
What do you do? How long have you been at RWU?
I do a lot of the behind the scenes type of things. If things are running smoothly, then nobody notices what I do. My job responsibilities include:
- Schedule home and away contests for most sports
- Schedule use of all Athletic Facilities
- Coordinate all maintenance of Athletic Facilities
- Oversee Recreational Services: Aquatics, Intramurals, Fitness, Simply Wellness, and Waterfront
- Day-to-Day problem solver!
What gets you excited about coming to work every day?
Interaction with students, it keeps me young at heart!
What is your most memorable student experience?
For about 20 years, I used to run an intramural golf tournament. It was so popular that young alumni used to return to play in it for years.
How has RWU changed/grown since you arrived?
I was one of five full-time employees when I began my career in June 1998 as the Assistant Intramural Coordinator, so the size of the Athletic Department has dramatically increased as well as the facilities both for Athletics and the entire University.
