What do you do? How long have you been at RWU?
As Administrative Assistant, I provide support to the AD, coaches, and staff with the day-to-day operations of the Department. I have been at RWU for 28 years; first as the part-time secretary to the Dean of the School of Fine and Performing Arts, then as the Administrative Assistant for the Department of Public Relations and Publications, and finally, in my current position here in Athletics.
What gets you excited about coming to work every day?
I enjoy my job and the people I work with. The student-athletes are a bonus to that. They are a joy to be around, making it a very positive atmosphere here in the Athletics suite.
What is your most memorable student experience?
There is not one in particular but an accumulation of several throughout the years. Just getting to know them and watching their time here change them from their freshman to senior years. Then being able to help them in the “real world” when you are asked to write references for them, you get to reflect on all of that. It’s a good feeling.
How has RWU changed/grown since you arrived?
When I arrived, the library was the new building under construction on campus as part of the plan for Roger Williams College to become an accredited University. Along with that plan came the purchase of 50 additional acres. The Law School was next, and since then, so many new dorms and academic buildings have followed. One thing that most people might not know is that back in the day, the horses for the Equestrian Team were boarded here on campus, and their practice arena was where the MNS building now stands.
