Van Schepen, Shanklin, White recognized in RWU Community Starts with Me, Thrives With Us campaign

Three faculty and staff from the Cummings School of Architecture have been recognized this May 2026 in RWU Community Starts With Me, Thrives With Us campaign. As part of the initiative, graduating students were invited to recognize faculty and staff members who made a meaningful difference in their time at RWU. This year, 140 graduates participated, and more than 50 shared tributes honoring faculty and staff members across schools. The Cummings School’s Associate Professor Randall Van Schepen, Adjunct Faculty BG Shanklin, and Dean Stephen White were recognized by students for their contributions, with several thoughts:
For Professor Van Schepen: “Creates interesting lectures that invite students to engage. Professor Van Schepen has always helped push me to my best ability and provides interesting insight always!”
For Professor Shanklin: “Always shared something new to learn about architecture. Gave me books to further understand design. Pushed me to be a better student.”
For Dean White: “He made me feel connected to the Architecture program. He’s one of the reasons I’ll be doing my masters here.”
