Boos, Achilli Awarded Dean’s Medal For Service

Two long-time contributors to the School of Architecture were recognized with the Dean’s Medal for Service in April 2026:
Charles W. Boos, AIA - Principal Emeritus, Kaestle Boos Associates Architects
For establishing the first endowed scholarship in the School in 2001. The Kaestle Boos Associates Scholarship has grown tenfold in the intervening years. Principal Chuck Boos’s persistence in advancing the scholarship over a quarter century has set the example in establishing and extending scholarship support in the School. Beyond the scholarship itself, KBA Architects has provides numerous opportunities annually for undergraduate and graduate students in their internship program, and numerous alumni are members of the firm’s four New England-based offices.
Boos was recognized at our annual Undergraduate Awards and Scholarship Event at the Architecture Building in Bristol on April 22, 2026.
Carlo Achilli - Director, International Studies Institute/RWU Architecture Program in Florence
For 24 years of leading the International Studies Institute (ISI) / RWU Architecture program in Florence, which has been attended by more than 1000 Architecture and Preservation students. Achilli’s leadership of the design studio and Architecture in Context course is appreciated by many students as the outstanding experience of their education at Roger Williams. He often remains in touch with and a mentor for many students and alumni.
Achilli was recognized at the International Studies Institute at Palazzo Rucellai in Florence on April 17, 2026, where Dean Stephen White was able to join ISI Director Stefano Baldassari, Achilli and ISI staff in special ceremony.
