Adams Reconsiders Urban Forms at ACSA Annual Meeting in Chicago

Professor Edgar Adams presented a paper “Block Form and Grossform: Bigness Reconsidered” at the ACSA Annual Meeting in Chicago that convened March 24-26, 2026. Adams’ encompassing work addresses broad issues involving 20th century’s changing attitudes involving the role of the urban block and “grossform”, and architect Rem Koolhaas’s ideas related to “Bigness”, along with the work of many other leading architects including Rossi, Ungers, the Krier brothers, Colin Rowe, and Kleihaus.
