Architecture Study Abroad

The Cummings School of Architecture offers undergraduate and graduate semester, winter/summer, and short-term study abroad opportunities. We also are also periodically involved in relationships with global partner universities and firms that bring students, visiting critics and visiting faculty to the school, and vice versa. Undergraduate semester programs abroad are available for all Cummings School juniors and seniors in Florence at the International Studies Institute (ISI) at Palazzo Rucellai, and for undergraduate Architecture students in Barcelona at the Barcelona Architecture Center. Graduate Architecture students can participate in Barcelona as well. Undergraduate and graduate students may also seek out semester long study abroad participation at other universities, with recent individual arrangements being achieved with the Architectural Association (AA) London, and Tsinghua University in Beijing.

Faculty periodically lead shorter study trips to other national and international sites as part of regularly scheduled coursework. A 3-week Winter 2023 Architecture Study Abroad to Brazil is being led by Associate Professor Ruben Alcolea.
