Born and Raised in Rome, Italy
I’m Erica Moore, I’m 19 years old and I was born and raised in Rome, Italy. My mom is Italian and was born in an island in Italy called Sardinia, while my dad was born in the US. Because of this, I’ve learned to speak and understand both in English and in Italian, so I’m considered bilingual.
Throughout my life, I would have never thought I would move to the US and going to college in a different country, but here I am now, studying as a freshman at Roger Williams University. I’m majoring in psychology with a minor in biology because I aspire to become a psychiatrist. Once I graduate, I was thinking about going to medical school and then specializing in psychiatry, because I was always fascinated by the human mind and how it works, and also because I always wanted to help others.
I came across RWU while I was searching for some colleges to apply to and I wanted to move in the New England area. Right away I loved the campus and the fact that it’s a very small college, that way you can connect more with both professors and students. Plus, they have a great psychology program which I was very interested to.
So far, adjusting to the new school system wasn’t easy, especially because I’m an international student, but I’ve got a lot of support from professors and also other international students that can relate to my situation. I was able to meet a lot of new people and finally understand what they mean for “college experience”.
The support and love that I received helped me throughout this past month and I’m so happy and grateful to have chosen Roger Williams University as my new home.
