Student Life Communications and Events Graduate Assistant
The Student Life Communications Grad Assistant will report directly to the Associate Dean of Student Programs and will work to communicate and plan events for the Graduate Student Population. This GA will be responsible for interacting with various graduate student programs and gathering feedback for programming and social meet ups. The GA will also update social media, create a monthly newsletter, assist in website design, and other communications projects. The GA will have the opportunity to supervise student staff in the Student Programs Social media staff.
- Create social media content calendars and review them with position supervisor for Graduate Student Life
- Develop strategies to increase followers and engagement for Graduate Student Life account
- Explore, develop, and execute dynamic social media content to showcase Graduate Student community from the student perspective.
- Work to create, produce and publish Graduate Student monthly newsletter
- Ability to supervise work study students
- Assist in the Graduate Student Orientation
- Assist in coordination of large scale events (Homecoming and Family Weekend, Admissions Events, Student Leadership Involvement Ceremony, Student Life Awards, etc.)
Required Qualifications
- Must be current RWU graduate student
- Be in good academic and judicial standing with the University and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Previous student leader experience (including orientation advisor, resident assistant or similar student leader position)
- Willingness to work with and mentor undergraduate students
- Experience and comfort with facilitating and presenting to groups
- Adhere to strict confidentiality policies (and sign confidentiality agreement) when working with students and accessing student records
- Strong interpersonal, phone, and email skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Position may include night and weekend events
- Exeperience with design and social media
Must be a current graduate student at RWU. This role will be available for the 2026-2027 academic year.
May work 20 hours/week, paid at $20/hour up to $4,000 per academic year.
