Graduate Assistant: Center for Student Academic Success
Position Description
Reporting directly to the Senior Academic Advisor and indirectly to the Director of Academic Advising, the Graduate Assistant (GA) will serve as a multifaceted asset to the Center for Student Academic Success.
Responsibilities
Peer Mentorship Management
- Monitor peermentors@rwu.edu email (when applicable)
- Assist Sr. Academic Advisor with fielding questions regarding Peer Mentor/Mentee cohort assignments
- Assist Sr. Academic Advisor with management of PM Leads and their designated committee groups
- Social Media Committee, PM Response Committee, PM Workshop & Presentation Committee
- Contribute to Social Media Committee initiatives
Advising
- Field questions concerning academic resources and university policies by monitoring CSAS email (when applicable)
- When directed by CSAS Advisor, manage the coordination of Major Adjustment Form for student(s)
CSAS Front Desk Administration:
- Work with Administrative Assistant for CSAS to staff front desk as needed
Expectations
- Graduate Assistant must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Adhere to strict confidentiality policies (and sign confidentiality agreement) when working with students and accessing student records.
- Be in good academic and judicial standing with the University.
Benefits
- Hands-on experience in working in a dynamic academic environment.
- Approximately 8-10 hours/week paid at $15/hour up to $3,000 per academic year.
Placement Term
The position will be effective for the 2023-2024 academic year with the option to be considered for further placement for students pursuing a two-year plan of study.
