SECCM Social Media Strategic Analyst
Job Description
The Social Media Strategic Analyst position serves as a three-year internship that bridges the gap between a students technical curriculum and professional leadership. By progressing from a data specialist to a team manager, the student applies core academic competencies—such as quantitative analysis, systems optimization, and data-driven decision-making—to the School’s digital outreach. This role specifically develops the student's ability to translate complex technical insights for non-technical stakeholders and provides hands-on experience in project management and peer mentorship, ensuring they graduate with the executive skills necessary for modern careers.

SECCM is looking for a Social Media Analyst & Strategist to be the "brains" behind our digital presence. This isn't just about counting likes—it’s about using data to tell SECCM’s story and leading a team to do it better every year.
What You’ll Actually Do
- Dive into the data using Meta and other tools to find our strengths (what people love) and weaknesses (what we need to fix).
- Research competitors keeping an eye on similar programs to make sure SECCM stays ahead of the curve.
- Strategize the best ways to reach and engage our target audiences on each platform (Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn)
- Collaborate with the Content Creation team to share your data and analysis to help them improve the videos and posts and align the content with the overall strategy.
Who We’re Looking For
- A Rising Sophomore: You need three years left at RWU to complete this track.
- A "Data Detective": You like finding patterns, solving puzzles and have a passion for data and strategy!
- A Strong Communicator: You can explain numbers in a way that makes sense to creative people.
- Federal Work-Study Eligible: All FIT applicants must be eligible for federal work-study
Year 1
Responsibility/Function
- Learn to use Meta Analytics, LinkedIn Insights, and Excel. You’ll learn how to pull the numbers that actually matter.
- You’ll build the system and create the "Scorecard" SECCM uses to see if we are meeting our goals on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
- By the end of the first year, you’ll help write the first-ever SECCM Social Media Strategy, setting the goals for what we want to achieve.
Year 2
Responsibility/Function
- Continue improving your skills using Meta Analytics, LinkedIn Insights, and Excel.
- Learn to use new tools that may be available and relevant.
- Scout the Competition: Look at what other top Engineering and Construction schools are doing. How can SECCM beat them?
- Grow Your Squad: You’ll recruit other students to join your data team so that you are not doing all the work alone and you will become the team lead.
- Guide your team to refine the strategic plan and communicate with the Content Creators exactly what to film or post get the best results and support the strategy.
Year 3
Responsibility/Function
- Continue all responsibilities from previous two years refining the strategy.
- Write detailed procedures for the collection of data and analyzing the data as well as overall team organization and management responsibilities for the team to run smoothly.
- Identify one of your team members to mentor so they are ready to take over as team lead when you graduate.
