RWU Center for Workforce and Professional Development (CWPD) Withdrawal and Refund Policy

Requests for withdrawals and refunds must be made to the CWPD office in writing.

A 100% refund of tuition will be granted if the student officially withdraws from the class (by written request) before the first class meeting.

A 75% refund of tuition will be granted if the student officially withdraws from the class (by written request) on or before the 10-percent date of scheduled hours. No refund will be granted after the 10-percent date of scheduled hours. For example, the 10-percent date of scheduled hours for a 15 week class is 1.5 weeks.

Notwithstanding the above, the following tuition and fees are non-refundable:

  • Tuition for self-paced classes
  • Tuition for driver’s education
  • Tuition for single-day workshops/seminars
  • Deposits
  • Application Fees

In the alternative to a withdrawal, a student may obtain an Incomplete for a class with an instructor’s permission and complete the class during the next term or when the class is next offered.

Academic Standards

Students are responsible for knowing and complying with the academic policies and requirements of the University. Each College and School has an Academic Standards Committee that serves as the appeal committee for students requesting exceptions to academic policy. A petition obtained from the appropriate dean’s office must be completed and submitted to the dean of the college or school in which the student is enrolled. The dean of the college or school, if necessary, will forward the petition to the appropriate Academic Standards Committee.

Right of Appeal

In cases where an academic policy or requirement constitutes a hardship, students may submit a written petition to the appropriate dean. Forms are available at the offices of the Registrar and University College in Providence. Any appeal is subject to review by the appropriate dean and designated Academic Affairs officer, whose decision shall be final. A written appeal must be filed within one semester after the semester in which the course was taken or the event that is the basis for the appeal occurred. Unless an appeal is filed within this period, it will not be considered.
