Welcome to RWU's P.E.A.C.E Program!
We stand for Peer Empowerment, Advocacy/Activism, & Community Engagement
Our Mission and Purpose
We are a social justice peer mentoring and leadership program for freshman and first-year transfer students. We are committed to building strong leaders who not only acknowledges the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion, but also recognizes the importance of developing critical intercultural literacy and fluency through active engagement with academics, intercultural programs and social justice initiatives. We strive to prepare students to become global citizens who are well-equipped to face the challenges of oppression on multiple platforms.
Through social justice leadership and mentorship, we seek to be role models for our mentees and the entire RWU community by continually examining the intersections of power, privilege and oppression. We acknowledge that social identities are embedded in and inextricably linked to, systemic and institutional dynamics that are historical, contextual and political. Through our intentional acquisition of knowledge and skills, our cultivation of self-awareness, and our efforts to actualize equity and social justice, we strive to empower ourselves, nurture critical thinking in our mentees, and inspire community engagement on campus.
