My First Snowfall

Elizabeth Alcantara

Growing up, I never saw snow. I come from an island where you can wear shorts all year long. The closest to cold I experienced before coming to Roger Williams was probably 50 degrees Fahrenheit (10 Celsius for all my international friends). Imagine the surprise of everyone I told this to. “You’re going to love it!”, “Can I be there when you experience it the first time?”, and “We need to build a snowman.” were all common replies I got the first few months here. And then, one day out of nowhere, it happened. It started snowing. In less than an hour, I received like 10 texts asking me how I was feeling. I must admit, I felt like a 10-year-old. My friends and I decided to play outside for an hour or so. It was truly an experience I will remember for the rest of my life.
