Social Media & Marketing Intern

Job Description

Student Programs, Leadership, & Orientation (SPLO) is seeking a motivated, resourceful, and tech-savvy student to serve as a social media and marketing intern. Applicants should have a strong level of experience with these channels as well as strong writing skills, organizational skills, the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and creativity to spare. The ideal candidate will be able to think strategically and see how social media fits into a department's marketing strategy while supporting clubs, organizations, and department programming.

Special Skills Needed:

  • Exceptional knowledge of social media platforms, i.e. Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, etc., including analytics
  • Ability to handle a busy, multi-tasking environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Innovative thinker
  • Positive attitude and customer service skills

Primary Duties:

  • Maintain current social media pages (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) by strategizing, crafting, and executing posts and campaigns on all platforms.
  • Measure and document the impact of social media while making recommendations for the future.
  • Employ innovative and engaging tactics to grow the audiences of each account; this can be through contests, informational series, etc.
  • Secure relevant photos and videos to post to social media pages.
  • Share relevant Google Analytics and other social media analytics with department staff.
  • Collaborate with the department, and potentially Division of Student Life, staff on marketing projects which may include print advertisements, weekly events newsletter, etc.
