Intercultural Student Worker

Job Description

Intercultural Student Workers are scheduled between 8am and 9pm during which they will assist the Office Coordinator, International, Multicultural, LGBTQ and Spiritual Life offices and all professional staff with a variety of tasks. This includes answering the phone, greeting all guests/students and asking what we can help them with. Running errands around campus, assisting with field trips, making photocopies, researching on the internet, creating posters/invitations.  Directing inquires to the correct staff, planning programs and events, creating information sessions that will be shared in classrooms through-out the campus and other tasks as needed. Intercultural Student Workers are responsible for welcoming guests and creating an inviting environment at The Center. Our students should encourage and take part in conversations about diversity. Attending open houses and orientation days will be required. They will also be responsible for the up keep of the kitchen, lounge and computer lab during each shift.  Intercultural Student workers should be culturally sensitive and understanding in order to help build a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

SPECIAL SKILLS NEEDED:
Good communication skills; Excellent phone etiquette;  Ability to multitask in a busy office setting; Aility to work with minimal supervision; Desire to be involved in culturally  based programs; Must be interested and open to learning about other countries, cultures and languages. 

OTHER INFORMATION:

  • Working at the Intercultural Center is a great opportunity for any student interested in enhancing the global, social aspect of their education.
  • Graphic Design (Photoshop), Excel, Word, PowerPoint, artistic skills is a plus.
  • We are looking for five to seven applicants that would be comfortable with speaking to large groups.
