Visit Coordinator

Job Description

This FIT internship places an emphasis on hands-on learning and will focus on coordination, collaboration and customer service. Students who complete this internship will have been exposed to many experiential learning opportunities. FIT interns will leave with real examples of conflict resolution; will possess well-developed customer service and communications skills. Additionally, this internship offers students project management and marketing experience.

Year 1
Responsibility/Function

Work with senior interns to learn how to coordinate and schedule RWU admission visits for prospective students. Interns will begin to develop their communication skills in an office environment through email, interpersonal interactions and phone communication. Students will follow the visit procedures and policies already in place to plan successful visits for our prospective students. There will be an emphasis on customer service, both internal to RWU (staff, faculty and peers) and external (students and families). FIT interns will be expected to follow through and follow-up with every inquiry received and must always do whatever is needed to close the loop on a project, interaction, schedule, etc. As a FIT intern in the admission office, they should be mindful of sharing authentic stories/experiences while always portraying RWU in the best way possible.

Year 2
Responsibility/Function

Contribute to the policies and procedures surrounding RWU admission visits. Take on a leadership role amongst the FIT interns. Begin working on group visit requests. During Year 2, students will continue to develop their communication skills and will continue to develop their customer service skills. Students should be able to anticipate the needs/requests of RWU visitors. During Year 2, students will have the opportunity to offer feedback and further develop the visit coordination process. In addition, students will analyze survey responses to identify survey trends. The data collected will inform decision –making and allow us to make appropriate changes to the visit experience.

Year 3
Responsibility/Function

In Year 3, FIT interns will prepare updated training manuals that will help with procedure and training for future interns. Additionally, third-year interns will take on a training and leader role amongst new FIT interns. During Year 3, interns should be thinking big picture and should offer ideas/suggestions/input on how best to serve admission visitors. FIT interns will develop template visits by major for shadow visits, as well as template visits for groups. By the end of the third year, interns should have well-developed communication and customer-service skills.
