Writing Tutoring via Email
The Writing Center is offering tutoring in two ways: you can access in-person help in the Tutoring Center, 2nd floor Library. Or, you can use the email system through email@example.com described below. With the email system, you will not be talking with a tutor live. Come into the Writing Center if you would like to work with a tutor live. All of the services of the Tutoring Center are free to RWU students.
Writing Help Through the Email System
Need help on a writing assignment? Submit a paper to the Writing Center email tutoring site!
PLEASE SUBMIT PAPERS ONLY IN WORD.DOC(X). (NO PAGES, PDFs OR GOOGLE DOCS)
So that we can provide the most effective help, we require that you please include the following information in your email:
- Attach the assignment sheet or provide a description of the assignment (for example: "I have to write a rhetorical analysis of purpose and stance in the essay titled 'Chocolate is the Best Cake Flavor.' I am supposed to have 3 body paragraphs and an intro and conclusion.")
- The name of the course the paper is for.
- What is the documentation system that you are supposed to use? (Identify one of these: MLA, APA, Chicago, Turabian)
- What are your biggest concerns? (For example: "I am really worried that I don't have enough support and sometimes I can be wordy.")
- When is the paper due?
Please send an email to this address: firstname.lastname@example.org, fill in all the required information from above in the body of the email, and attach your document.
When the tutor returns the paper to you, it will have "REVIEWED" at the end of the document title and the tutor will provide comments in the margin of your paper.
Please note: there is a 7-page limit for paper review.
We will make every attempt to return your paper within 48 hours, Sunday through Friday. We will not have tutors on duty on Saturdays, so the return might be a little more delayed if you submit late on Friday or Saturday.
We strongly suggest that you do not ask for a specific tutor to review a paper in WritingHelp.
Thank you very much,
The Writing Center
