Hydroponics Cultivator Certificate Program
The Hydroponics industry, currently estimated at USD 8.1 billion, is projected to double by 2025*. Hydroponics, the art and science of growing plants in water instead of soil, is more ever-present today as families, schools and communities face disrupted food systems, food insecurities, rising food costs and deteriorating food quality.
This course is designed for anyone with an interest in growing fresh, sustainable, environmentally friendly plants, vegetables and flowers on a small scale, anywhere, all year round -- even during inclement weather seasons. You will gain the practical knowledge, strategies and tactics to provide alternative and affordable healthy food systems to your family and/or communities.
The aim of this class is to develop the learner's technical skills to independently plan and grow different crops in hydroponic systems. Through virtual hands on learning you can develop an urban garden in your community, on your rooftop or balcony or vertically grow herbs and flowering plants in your home.
The course will begin with a foundation in plant science and then moves through topics such as the capital and physical needs for a sustainable operation, how to develop distribution networks, and finally participants craft a business model that will flourish. Over the 6-week course, you will learn strategies and techniques for running an efficient commercial hydroponic operation or for growing enough food to support multiple families or communities.
This program is fully online, with two weekly virtual classes on Monday's & Wednesday's from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm and online assignments.

Dr. WALID NOSIR, Founder of the Vertical Farming Academy, has 17 years of hydroponic experience and has trained more than 750 farmers and technicians in hydroponic systems worldwide. He has served as a trainer for various projects stemming from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), a specialized agency of the United Nations (UN) that leads international efforts to defeat hunger. Dr. Nosir is the Co-Inventor in 6 patents, the Inventor of 2 submitted patents in vertical farming, and serves as a consultant within vertical culture farming.
