RWU Presidential Transition Update

Greetings,

We wanted to write with an update on several fronts related to readying the campus for our 11th RWU President this summer and some of the work of our Presidential Transition Team.

First, it was exciting to see a strong and varied attendance last Friday for the Campus Introduction of Yannis Miaoulis to the community. The video archive of his remarks can be viewed here:

Empaneled by our Board Chair Tim Baxter, a Presidential Transition Team has been meeting regularly over the last few weeks. Although his official start date as President is August 19, 2019, Dr. Miaoulis has provided over thirty work days between now and mid-August where he will be with us on campus or at University events in various capacities. The goal of the Transition Team is to meet Dr. Miaoulis' intent to have schedule listening sessions and learning sessions with as wide an array of campus audiences as possible. 

We are building out days with meetings with students, faculty, staff, and external audiences, including key donors to RWU, to give Dr. Miaoulis a full perspective of our community. These transition meetings and events will help Dr. Miaoulis learn our institutional history and culture, as well as our strengths, opportunities, and challenges during this 'on-boarding' phase.  The intent is to enable him to be well versed in the university well before his first official day on the job in August.

The Transition Team meets weekly and are making adjustments to Dr. Miaoulis' schedule as new meeting needs and opportunities emerge through his interaction with the community. He has asked us to be nimble and flexible during this learning time as he enjoys engaging with all of us and learning as much as he can. There are many groups and limited time between now and August. For those who may not have a meeting opportunity with Dr. Miaoulis during these transition meetings, please know that we will continue with various listening sessions and follow-up meetings well into the fall semester.
