RWU COVID-19 Update

To the RWU community,

The Rhode Island Governor and Department of Health are beginning a phased reopening of businesses and public spaces across the state this Saturday. However, this is only the first phase of a slow reopening, and state officials are urging as many as possible to continue to work remotely. Please also note that the Governor of the State of Massachusetts has not lifted the stay at home order as of yet.

Roger Williams will continue with our current remote work policy until the University develops and implements the appropriate safety measures to have our community begin returning safely to campus. Our Reopening Roger working groups have begun developing the necessary plans for a safe and healthy reopening, working in collaboration with the Rhode Island Department of Health. We will not lift the remote work order until we believe it is safe to bring people back to campus in our own phased approach in the weeks ahead.

There are a small number of essential personnel who have been working and are needed for campus operations at this time; examples include, but are not limited to, staff members in Facilities, Dining, Public Safety and MNS. Any other employees who need to come to campus on a periodic basis should do so only with advanced approval from their division vice president designee or provost.

We appreciate your cooperation and patience with us to ensure the safety and well-being of our campus community and the local community.

Thank you,
Emergency Response Team
