RWU COVID-19 Update

To the RWU community,

We are writing to make you aware that an employee is experiencing flu-like symptoms and is awaiting test results to determine whether the illness is or is not COVID-19. The public safety staff member works the first shift and last worked on Sunday. Indications at this point are that the staff member had not entered any buildings other than the Public Safety Office. In accordance with University safety measures, the employee wore a facemask while working on campus.

Following a negative test result for COVID-19, the employee will be able to return to work when symptom-free. If the test result is positive, the employee will be required to remain home for a minimum of seven days from onset of symptoms, and will be allowed to return to work once symptom-free, exhibiting no fever for 72 hours and with a physician’s note.

We appreciate the cooperation and disclosure from the employee in helping to keep our campus community safe and healthy. Any faculty, staff or students who are scheduled to be tested or have tested positive for COVID-19, should notify RWU Health Services at 401-254-3156.

As a reminder, the University is requiring employees and students who are working or living on campus to wear a cloth face covering, unless they can continuously maintain 6 feet of distance from others at all times. Employees and students on campus must wear face coverings in any entryway, exit or common area of our campus properties, including, but not limited to, check-in, registration, reception, hallways, bathrooms, breakrooms, time clock areas, elevators, stairways, etc.

We will continue to communicate frequent updates. Please also visit the dedicated university website for regular updates and additional resources on remote learning and working. The website is available here

Thank you,
Emergency Response Team
