Lauren Tierney ’13
Lauren has been the starting catcher on the RWU Softball team for the past three seasons, having never missed a pitch—let alone a game—in her entire career. Not only is she accomplished behind the plate, she is also a two-time member of both the Roger Williams University and Commonwealth Coast Conference All-Academic Teams.
In addition to the amount of time Lauren puts in as a member of the Softball team, she still finds time to get involved in other areas around campus. Laura is a member of the business fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi, she serves as the business manager of the Hawks’ Herald, holds a position on the Inter-Class Council and, she is an Orientation Advisor. One would think that with her heavy schedule during the academic year, Lauren would take the time to unwind over summer break. Instead, she has used the time to learn as much as possible through an immersion trip to Granada – where she took classes and lived with a host family – and more recently, through a summer internship with Merrill Lynch.
Oh, and did we mention that Lauren was an Orientation Advisor this past summer, spending five weeks on campus training, helping lead Orientation and building the float for the Bristol 4th of July Parade?
Lauren is just one of the many student-athletes at Roger Williams University who not only puts time and dedication into RWU Athletics, but into the University as a whole. Their commitment to improving campus life for all members of the Roger Williams community is truly what it means to be a Hawk.
