Shuttle Service/Work Study Opportunity

The Bristol Parks and Recreation Department's mission is to create, promote and implement programs that reflect the recreational and cultural diversity of the community, while maintaining a beautiful park and playground system and protecting the natural resources of the community. Activities range from the Bristol Community Center, offering local children safe and fun activities, to Unified Sports, a program that offers athletic competition for teams comprised of both disabled and non-disabled athletes. Programs for seniors, such as the walking club and the bowling program are also offered. Volunteers are needed to serve meals and clean up at the Oz Café (which provides hot meals to high school students). Other service opportunities include acting as a big brother/big sister figure and assisting with Community Center school vacation camps and trips.

Big Brothers of Rhode Island provides one-on-one relationships between at-risk children and volunteer mentors at no charge to the child, family or volunteers. Male volunteers are needed to meet weekly with fatherless boys to act as mentors.
