For The Graduates

Every year the Intercultural Center and the Roger Williams Alumni Association hold a special ceremony to recognize and celebrate graduating seniors as they prepare to bring intercultural learning to the greater global community. It is an event for seniors who have shown exceptional intercultural learning, a collaborative spirit and demonstrated ethics of campus inclusivity.

The individuals recognized have made extraordinary contributions to the campus community through involvement with the Intercultural Center or student groups that promote diversity, equity and inclusion at RWU.

At this intimate ceremony, we bestow an Intercultural Center stole to be worn on graduation day and going forward.

Intercultural Center Ceremony

Both the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 academic years introduced new challenges as the campus adapted its learning structure to promote safety measures in response to COVID-19. While by no means diminishing the tremendous efforts of the graduating students who are crossing the finish line to their degrees, we also found this as an opportunity to recognize the perseverance of all students in our programs.

This year, in addition to our graduates, we recognized members of the following student groups and communities:

  • SOAR (Strive, Overcome, Achieve, Rise)
  • P2P (Pathway to Purpose)
  • ILAPS (Intercultural Leadership Ambassador Program and Scholarship)
  • Students in the Black and Latinx LLC (Living, Learning Community)
  • P.E.A.C.E. (Peer Empowerment Advocacy/Activism and Community Engagement)
  • Intercultural Center Student Employees
