Dr. Alyson Smith '98 will share her insights on women's rights around the globe. Since graduating from RWU in 1998, Smith has earned a Ph.D. from the London School of Economics where she wrote on the gender policy context during the Rwandan post-conflict reconstruction. That research built on her field work on gender and reproductive health issues in Cameroon, Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Ghana, Namibia and Uganda. This year, she founded The Gender Policy Group, which researches and drafts policy analyses on gender equality and women’s empowerment, including the gender pay gap, global resource allocation and spending, and trends in gender issues and global development.

This event is sponsored by the Department of Politics and International Relations, the Office of the Vice Provost, and Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
