Michael Bolger's Nutcracker takes the glorious Tchaikovsky score and creates a contemporary adaptation of the beloved ballet. However, the score is used as a framework for the choreographer to develop a modern take on the classic, through movement and text based upon personal experiences, being one of twelve children. The vision comes to life as he constructs a work with the tradition of family at its core belief and that many gifts are received from the power of family...and not all good things are in packages, or store bought for that matter.
