Hassenfeld Series: Ethical Dimensions of Fair-Trade Experiential Learning: An "Empathy-First" Approach

WedDec6

Presenters: Autumn Quezada-Grant, Ph.D. (History) and Paola Prado, Ph.D. (Journalism)

Ethical community engagement that privileges an “empathy-first” approach resides in fair trade learning practices, promotes transparency and self-reflectivity. All experiential learning and service-learning experiences are different. Yet the path to best practices begins with an invitation into a community and careful consideration of the intentions and objectives of the partners. Once an agreement is reached about the nature of the community engagement, partners are better equipped to plan, step-by-step, in an inclusive manner, how to best achieve common goals for the common good. We invite you to join the dialogue.
