The keynote speaker for the 18th Annual Professor John Howard Birss, Jr. Memorial Lecture Series will be Kathleen Cleaver. From 1967 to 1971, Cleaver was the first communications secretary of the Black Panther Party. After sharing years of exile in Algeria and France with former husband Eldridge Cleaver, she returned with her family to the United States in late 1975. She earned her J.D. from Yale Law School in 1989, and now is on faculty at Emory University Law School. She will speaking about Eldridge Cleaver's book Soul on Ice.
A special exhibition will be on display at the University Library during regular library hours, from February 1 through March 31, 2018.
