Shirley Tandoh graduated with a BSc Degree and Post Graduate Diploma in Architecture from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana in 2006 and 2008. She received her MSc Degree in Construction Management with specialization in Sustainable Construction at the University of Florida in 2016 and Ph.D. in Design, Construction and Planning at the same university in 2021. Shirley also has a Project Management professional certification. Her areas of research interest are sustainable construction looking at energy and water sustainability, land use land cover change, urban water modeling and building information modeling.

Shirley has worked as a field or project architect at Goldfields Ghana Limited, Tarkwa from 2008 to 2013. She started work as an architect trainee and got promoted to project architect in the duration of her job with Goldfields. As a master’s and PhD student, Shirley worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Graduate Research Assistant at the Rinker School of Construction Management where she was a Teaching Assistant for Construction Materials, Temporary Structures, Advance Planning and Controls and Construction Methods Lab. She was also a research assistant at the Powell Center for Construction and Environment where she undertook a lot of sustainable construction research projects such as building solar panels, solar water heater and research papers including carbon footprint, Florida construction workforce taskforce report, just to mention a few. She has also been involved in a lot of community volunteering work and served on several student organizations.
